Making wine is poetry: here at last is a visit to the winery of Leonardo Manetti, the poet winemaker of Greve.
It was a beautiful, sunny afternoon and Leonardo took us on a tour of the vineyards on the hill opposite the village where the structure where the new winery will be built is also located.
A guy with simple and genuine values, shy, who with great passion and spirit of sacrifice cultivates ten hectares from which he makes Chianti Classico D.O.C.G, I.G.T Toscana, Olio EVO and the irises, the pale iris with splendid violet hues.
A 'family-size business that of Leonardo, who personally follows the entire process from the manual harvesting of grapes to bottling in bottles with a label featuring the writing feather, the company logo symbolizing the fusion of man, nature and poetry.
The 2015 Chianti Classico we tasted is a ruby-red Sangiovese that has floral notes of violets along with fruity notes of cherries on the nose; it has soft, pleasant tannins in the mouth.
A rather elegant wine.
Thank you Leonardo and see you next time!
